1992年于北京大学获博士学位。同年作为全国首位组织胚胎学专业博士后进入复旦大学。出站后至出国前在复旦大学组胚教研室供职, 担当副主任、代理主任。期间, 荣获宝钢优秀教师奖, 被评为学生“心目中的好老师”,连续担任全国组织胚胎学专业青年学术研讨会主要主持人, 担任上海市解剖学会理事, 解剖学杂志编委，于香港大学访问研究1年。 1999年留学美国，先后在约翰霍普金斯大学、田纳西大学和路易斯安那大学从事研究。2007年6月受聘于同济大学医学院。曾获中国解剖学会优秀论文奖3次，受中国解剖学会通报表彰1次。发表论文40余篇，其中相当部分被SCI收录。参加编著近10部。主要研究方向为肿瘤的免疫治疗和基因治疗。现主持上海市教育委员会科研创新项目重点项目。
Dr. Peilin Zhao, professor of the Dept. of Histology and Embryology, director of the morphological laboratory, obtained Ph D. Degree at Beijing Medical University in 1992. Between 1992 and 1994, as the first postdoctoral fellow of histology and embryology field in China, Dr. Zhao worked at Shanghai Medical University. After having completed the researches Dr. Zhao held a post at the same University, taking on a vice-director, deputy director in the Dept. of Histology and Embryology. During that period, he gained the Bao-steel excellent teacher award and the nice teacher award, organized the national academic forum of young scholars in the field of histology and embryology, assumed the council member of Shanghai Anatomy Association and member of an editorial board of Chinese Journal of Anatomy and worked at University of Hong Kong as a visiting scholar for one year. From 1999 to 2007, Dr. Zhao engaged in research in science successively at The Johns Hopkins University, The University of Tennessee and Louisiana State University in the United States as a postdoctoral fellow or research scientist, and then in June 2007 began to work in Tongji University School of Medicine. Dr. Zhao ever won the excellent thesis prize and commendation of Chinese Society for Anatomical Sciences four times. More than 40 papers have been Published , in which a considerable portion was included by SCI. In addition, he has participated in writing of nearly 10 books. The research interest focus on the tumor immunotherapy and gene therapy. A key project from Shanghai Education Committee scientific research innovation projects is conducted at present.
