1995年毕业于德克萨斯大学获生化与分子生物学专业博士学位,1995-2000年在加州大学旧金山分校病毒与免疫研究所进行博士后研究,2000-2004年在纽约州立大学Buffalo分校任助理教授,2004—2010 年在美国德克萨斯大学MD安德森癌症研究中心任终身副教授,2010—至今在美国德克萨斯大学MD安德森癌症研究中心任终身教授,2009-至今在同济大学任讲座教授。
林欣教授主要研究转录因子NF-κB 活化过程的相关信号通路,探讨其在淋巴细胞活化、炎症反应、细胞存活以及肿瘤发生中的作用及其机理。在国际上首先发现了CARMA1 作为T 细胞受体诱导NF-κB 家族活化中的关键分子,并揭示了淋巴细胞信号分子传递过程中相关的几个关键步骤,系统地阐述了T 细胞受体如何诱导NF-κB 家族活化的信号通路,同时深入全面地研究了相关的信号级联反应。相关研究成果相继发表在《Nature Immunology》、《Immunity》、《EMBO Journal》等国际一流杂志上。这些研究引起了众多免疫学者的关注并成为本领域的研究热点之一,受到国际免疫学界的认可并被众多论文广泛引用。这一研究成果已被引入新版的免疫学权威教科书《Immunobiology》。
